Training Information Calendar
SARATSO strives to meet the training needs of the certified scorers of California’s risk instruments. If training is needed at a particular location or for a specific risk instrument, please email a request to saratso@cdcr.ca.gov as we track areas of needed trainings in planning our annual schedule.
SARATSO Trainers
SARATSO must certify all scorers on the risk instruments. All classes must be taught by certified trainers in order for scorers to receive certification.

Trainings
Static-99R
For the Static-99R, certified trainers are probation, parole and DSH personnel who have had advanced SARATSO-sponsored training by an expert in the field.

JSORRAT-II
For the JSORRAT-II, certified trainers were trained by SARATSO expert Dr. Douglas Epperson.

The JSORRAT-II training program is currently suspended due to the juvenile realignment bill that was implemented in July 2021 (SB823).

STABLE-2007/ACUTE-2007 Trainings
This is a 14 hour training. All participants must complete and pass all aspects of the 14 hours to become certified scorers.

CEU's
The State Authorized Risk Assessment Tools for Sex Offenders (SARATSO) unit is an approved provider of Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and Board of Psychology (BOP) continuing education credits by the American Psychological Association (APA). Please note that there will be specific instructions provided at the end of the training to receive credit and certification of attendance in the course.

Registration: Registration for the Stable-2007/Acute-2007 Recertification Training for September 22, 2026!
Additional Info: The course will include a Discussion Case that is to be completed before the training, and a Test Case that will be distributed at the end of the training. If the Discussion Case is not received by the deadline, the participant will no longer be eligible to attend the training.
Regarding CEs, there will be specific instructions provided at the end of the training to receive credit and certification of attendance in the course for those who requested CEs during registration. Please note that requests for CEs will not be accepted after the registration process is completed.
The additional 15 minutes at the end of the training session is for wrap-up and Q&A.

NOTE: Individuals who are not currently CASOMB Certified and/or in the process of CASOMB Recertification will not receive their SARATSO Certificate or access to GEARS until CASOMB certification is attained. It is incumbent upon the participant to notify SARATSO Training Coordinators when CASOMB certification is approved, in the form of a current CASOMB Certificate.
LS/CMI Trainings
The LS/CMI certified trainers are treatment providers who have had advanced SARATSO-sponsored training by an expert in the field.
