SARATSO strives to meet the training needs of the certified scorers of California’s risk instruments. If training is needed at a particular location or for a specific risk instrument, please email a request to SARATSO@cdcr.ca.gov as we track areas of needed trainings in planning our annual schedule.

SARATSO Trainers

SARATSO must certify all scorers on the risk instruments. All classes must be taught by certified trainers in order for scorers to receive certification.

Static-99R

For the Static-99R, certified trainers are probation, parole and DSH personnel who have had advanced SARATSO-sponsored training by an expert in the field.

STABLE-2007/ACUTE-2007 Trainings (January 2021 - May 2021)

This is a 14 hour training. All participants must complete and pass all aspects of the 14 hours to become certified scorers.

CEU's
The State Authorized Risk Assessment Tools for Sex Offenders (SARATSO) unit is an approved provider of Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and Board of Psychology (BOP) continuing education credits by the American Psychological Association (APA). Please note that there will be specific instructions provided at the end of the training to receive credit and certification of attendance in the course.

Additional Info: There are a limited number of new trainer positions available. Based on recent changes, the need for agency associated Stable/Acute Trainers has expanded. Priority acceptance will be given to individuals who intend to facilitate internal training for their agency on a regular basis. For those interested in becoming a Certified Trainer, please refer to the SARATSO Certified Trainers Qualifications & Expectation document posted to the SARATSO Training page to review eligibility requirements. First Time Trainer Applications are due to SARATSO no later than February 28, 2021, please ensure you submit the following items along with your registration to saratso@cdcr.ca.gov:

• Reference Letter

• Letter of Interest addressed to the SARATSO Committee that covers the details requested in the Certified Trainers Qualifications and Expectations document.

• CV/Resume
